Luigi's Mansion 3 Guide: 4F The Great Stage Walkthrough

Sep 08, 2023

This portion of the Luigi's Mansion 3 guide contains The Great Stage walkthrough, all Great Stage gem locations (which cannot be completed until later in the game), and tips and tricks to defeat the piano playing boss at the end so you can rescue the trapped toad.

While The Great Stage is one of the smaller hotel floors, it has one of the harder boss battles in the game. Unlike the last few bosses, this piano player can't be approached directly or immediately. Still, there are some attack patterns to learn and methods to try out that will have this classical musician switching to the blues in no time.

Below are the walkthrough sections and objectives. Please note we may have added a few objectives ourselves to indicate the steps you need to take to complete the main objective.

Take the elevator to the 4th Floor to check out The Great Stage.

Walk up to the tuba and blow into it with the Poltergust (ZL) until a gem appears at the top.

As you get off on the floor, go to the tuba and blow with the polter-goo. The gem will pop out.

Use Gooigi to vacuum (ZR) the gem out of the tuba.

Walk to the left and over the carpet. Dodge the bumps in the rug coming towards you by using the burst move (ZR +ZL).

Burst over the bumps in the rug to avoid damage and engage the ghost at the end.

Once you get to the end of the carpet, capture the ghost who was causing the trouble.

When you’re done exploring, head through the main doors ahead to face the boss. Gem locations are noted below but scroll past them to the boss section if you’d rather find them yourself.

The Great Stage Gem #6

At the end of the hall to the left, find the popcorn machine and flash it until a gem appears.

Walk all the way to the left of the hall until you reach the popcorn machine. Flash the green blinking light with Stobulb until the popcorn machine overflows.

Once it's full, a gem will pop out.

The Great Stage Gem #1

Go to the women's restroom on the left.

Shine your dark light on the faucet to reveal a gem ghost; catch it to get the gem.

Turn on the new faucet and a ghost with a gem in it will appear.

Capture the ghost to get the gem.

The Great Stage Gem #3

Go to the men's restroom on the right.

Use Gooigi to go through the grate in the men's bathroom to pull on the cord. Use Luigi to interact with the boo on the wall.

Use Gooigi to move through the gate and pull on the gold cord to "activate" the inflatable boo on the wall.

Walk up to the Boo wall and interact with it.

After interacting with the boo, vacuum the bottles on the back wall to make a song. A safe will open after you've played each note.

You’ll end up on the other side. Play some music by vacuuming the bottles. When all the notes are played the safe will open, giving you another gem.

PIano man!

The Pianist Ghost Boss is one of the more elaborate boss battles in Luigi's Mansion 3 because this one has multiple waves of attacks and the battle area is bigger this time around. Here's how to capture the piano boss.

The seats will glow and then try to fall on you. Keep running around the auditorium to avoid them.

Keep running so you don't get hit buy the floating seats. They will keep coming until every single one is gone.

The seats fall is a cascading and consecutive manner so make sure you’re keeping an eye on where the first chair falls. You can also hear the sound of them being fired before they land.

Suck up the masquerade masks so you can actually stun these ghosts. Remember, you can Slam a ghost into ghosts wearing masks to save time and make things easier.

Burst move the ghosts' masks off and capture them as normal.

Finally, you can actually fight the pianist. Here's what you can expect from his piano possession.

The piano will try to slam down on top of you, from above. To avoid this attack, look for the stage light on the ground and make sure you’re not standing in it.

Don't get in this spotlight. Avoid being hit by these slams and when the pianist appears, flash him with the strobulb.

The 3rd slam will create a shock wave. Jump over it with the burst move (ZL +ZR)

When the piano jumps onto the stage it will dump out bombs. Avoid the red, blinking bombs and instead vacuum up an inactive one and shoot it into the piano. Note: you technically can use active ones if you’re fast enough but it's really risky and hard to pull off.

Shoot bombs into the piano to get the ghost out.

Shoot the suction shot to slam the piano. To aim it correctly, make sure your light is shining on the sun-shaped icon.

Use the suction shot on the bottom of the piano to slam it on the ground.

With the piano slammed open, the Pianist will come out and try to attack you directly. Stun and vacuum the pianist.

Keep your distance and the piano will screech a shock wave towards you. As long as you’re far away enough, it's pretty avoidable because the range isn't big.

Then the piano will spew keys out of it. As long as you’re standing back, you should be able to run between them because the keys spread out.

Repeat these waves until you capture the musician.

Once it's done, grab the elevator button.

Oooh!

Shine the dark light on the portrait to free Toad.

The Great Stage Gem #2

Head to the left and enter the musician's dressing room.

Use your Dark Light on the piano to reveal the missing keys.

After defeating the musician ghost, go to his dressing room to the left of the stage. Use your dark light on the piano and interact with it to get the gem.

Interact with the piano and a gem will pop out.

The Great Stage Gem #4 Can't be Collected Yet

To collect Gem #4, you’ll need to return to this floor after getting an upgrade during The Spectral Catch objectives.

Walk this adorable baby back to the elevator.

Toad's baby.

Oh yeah!

Install the button in the elevator and continue to Floor 6: Castle MacFrights.
